Toni Basil (* 22. September 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; eigentlicher Name Antonia Christina Basilotta) ist eine US-amerikanische Popsängerin und Choreografin. Im Jahr 1978 hatte die britische Band Racey einen Song von Nicky Chinn und Mike Chapman über ein Mädchen namens Kitty aufgenommen. Toni Basil nahm ihn zum Anlass, daraus einen Videoclip mit Cheerleadern mit dem neuen Titel Mickey zu drehen, der aber erst nach der Gründung von MTV 1981 erfolgreich wurde. Singer-Songwriter guitarist Joe Rathbone has been creating alt. rock melodic songs that are not easily categorized, though he has been compared to Tom Petty and Elvis Costello.
