Sexteto Habanero In the early 20th Century, three Cuban musicians created the Oriental Trío to play folklore music from the western part of the island. The trio later added members, changed its name to Sexteto Habanero, and was the first and most influential son player, a vivid Afro-Hispanic fusion of musical styles. El 13 de mayo de 1962, Día de las Madres, se funda el Conjunto Rítmico Juventud, el cual al poco tiempo cambia su nombre a Sexteto Juventud. Su conformación era Olinto Medina, fundador, director y bajista; Juan Medina, en la guitarra; Arturo López como vocalista; Elio Pacheco, tumbadoras; Carlos Cróquer, batería; Isaías, bongó. En 1963, Pacheco decide abandonar al grupo pero antes le recomendó a Olinto al bongocero Carlos Quintana, “Tabaco”, a la postre voz oficial del grupo que alcanzó grandes éxitos.
