CHERRY BOMBSHELL was formed by four friends in Bandung back in 1995. The name was inspired by the band Lush and the color of the lead singer's hair. The orginal four members started out playing the music of other English bands like Pale Saint, Velocity Girl and Revolver. Later they met Alexandra, who would become their vocalist, and they began playing some gigs in Jakarta under the name Lolypop.

They then decided to record a mini-album with six songs, of which they sold 500 cassettes by themselves. After the success of that first effort and positive reviews from fans, the group signed a two-record deal with Bulletin Records. Unfortunately, before they could finish the first album, lead singer Alexandra had to move to Hong Kong for her studies. She was then replaced by Widyastuti Ariani.

With their new lead singer, the band released a full-length, 12-song album "Waktu Hijau Dulu." In 2000, the band changed drummers for their second release "Luka Yang Dalam." After another change in personnel, the band released its third effort on the indie label Bacott Records in May, 2005. With "Jalan Masih Panjang" the new lineup of Agung Pecunk, Esti, Arief, Remy and Egi proved a successful combination. If the turnout at their shows - in and outside of Bandung - is any indication, the album has been well-received by both old fans and new. .
