Violaine Corradi is an Italian composer and musician who is known for her work with several Cirque du Soleil shows, including Dralion and Varekai. Corradi was born in Trieste, Italy, and moved to Montréal at the age of four. Born into a musical family, with her father was a composer and conductor, and her mother was a professional opera singer, Corradi kept with the family tradition of music. She received classical training in singing, and learnt an array of instruments including the piano, clarinet and flute. Born in 1946 Violaine Pilzer grew up in Neuilly-sur-Seine in the north western suburbs of Paris. The younger half-sister of Christine Pilzer (they had different fathers), in 1966 Violaine was offered a recording contract on 'Riviera' by label boss Eddie Barclay. Sponsored by the Ford motor company, Violaine released two four-track EPs, 'Cessez laguerre' (the title track referring to the supposed feud between singers Antoine and Johnny Hallyday) and 'Adieu l'amite' but both failed to chart. .
