Rubber Rodeo was a Boston-based band active in the 1980s. Uniquely for the era, the band fused Roxy Music-influenced new wave music with country and western influences, and dressed in 1950's-vintage country & western clothing. They are best remembered for their heavily rotated 1984 MTV hit "The Hardest Thing" and the US chart hit "Anywhere With You". Foundation and early years (1980-83) Rubber Rodeo was founded in Rhode Island in 1980, and initially consisted of Bob Holmes (vocals, guitars), Trish Milliken (vocals, keyboards), Gary Leib (synthesisers), Eddie Stern (pedal steel), Doug Allen (bass) and Bob's brother Barc Holmes (drums). The artist hid her name under the anagram THE RODEO, a word evoking the South of the USA, a style of music which inspired the singer and a hommage to the pioneers of folk, blues and country music. When she was a child, she discovered a treasure in her uncle's attic. Hidden among dusty vinyls and books was a slumbering guitar dating from the mythical 1970's. She then started writing and composing ballads designed as fairy tales for grown-ups, fables without a moral. Her lyrics introduce different characters, places and atmospheres. Past shows include: The Rodeo opened for My brightest...
“Bayonne-based quintet THE RODEO IDIOT ENGINE have been nothing but unstoppable since their very first steps in 2009, tirelessly sculpting a signature sound torn between the most abrasive sides of chaotic hardcore, post-metal or screamo. After gaining a growing reputation all over Europe due to their 250 staggering, seizure-inducing live shows, the band returned to Amaury Sauvé’s studio in Laval during summer 2015 to track «Malaise», their third full-length and follow-up to 2013’s «Consequences». While most acts tend to soften with age, the band’s work has only become darker over the years. Opener “Le Parfum” sets the tone, with merciless,...
Southern hard rock with country overtones, Tattoo Rodeo played a bluesy down home brand of heavy metal. Very little in the way of commercial success led to the band being largely forgotten by the rock community. Burbank, California seemed like an unusual spawning ground for such a sounding band, but makes sense considering their earlier formation as AOR band White Sister. When White Sister's keyboardist departed, Dennis Churchill-Dries (vocals/bass), Rick Chadock (guitar) and Rich Wright (drums) recruited piano and B3 Hammond player Michael Lord and renamed themselves Tattoo Rodeo. 1991's Rode Hard - Put Away Wet included such singles as...
