The Spills are a band born and raised in Wakefield, West Yorkshire (England). The Spills, at first, are most easily compared to bands such as Nirvana and Nine Black Alps, as they have a fuzzy alt rock sound, whilst having a keen pop sensibility. They have evolved since their inception and have forged a sound of their own. Songs, such as "Holidays" and "Rhyme Of The Ancient Alabastard," are a testament to the fact that The Spills have an ear for great pop/rock tunes as well as the heart to play those tunes in a manner that reverberates loudly, emotionally...
there are 2 bands that use the name Pills. a) French dance experimentalists -- such as les Rhythmes Digitales, Air, Daft Punk, and Cassius -- have been sparking techno with their brash art-school ambience. Hailing from a tough Paris neighborhood, Pills joined their ranks. Pills released his debut album, Electrocaine, in 1999, and Musicsoldia was issued a year later. ~ Stacia Proefrock, All Music Guide b) a San Francisco hardcore band featuring ex-members of Funeral Diner, Burial Year, Threatener, etc... they've released a 3 song demo "Not About God" in February 2011 which is available for free download @ http://www.pillsband.bandcamp.com...
When I heard that folks from those two great 90s UK bands HOOTON 3 CAR and BROCCOLI were teaming up together for some new band action, I had to hear it – and when I did, I wasn’t disappointed! Recorded on warm trusty 24 analogue, BITTER PILLS debut is an absolute stonker, even if we do say ourselves – and what’s more if you buy it...
