A lot of things are different about EDEN CIRCUS. Being around for some years already, the quintet still focused on practicing in the rehearsal room to improve its skills in songwriting and defining its sound. Tooth & Nail Records was born in 1993 and Wish For Eden will always be known as the first band to release an album on this wonderful label. Pet the Fish is a very simplistic album lyrically and musically, but many who were into Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden were fond of it when it released. The California three-piece, Wish For Eden, made their debut on Tooth & Nail Records with this record. "Pet The Fish" is hard and heavy – and flits happily somewhere between pop, punk, and grunge. Hard to imagine, right? That's because this music was avant-garde...
Martin Eden is a recording alias of Portland-based musician Matthew Cooper, best known for his work as Eluvium. Under this moniker Cooper has released a full-length album Dedicate Function and a seven-inch single "Worker," both via Lefse Records in 2012. This project, unlike the classical-imbued ambience of Eluvium, relies heavily on synthesizers and drum programming and as such is more clearly indebted to Warp mainstays Aphex Twin, Boards of Canada, and Squarepusher, in addition to The Field and Kraftwerk. Having since shifted focus back to his Eluvium project, it is unknown if Cooper will again operate under the Martin Eden...
